However, the few elements that were replaced, in about 1968 and in 1993, have nearly all resulted in severe longitudinal cracking and extensive reinforcement corrosion, despite the later concretes being superficially of better quality than the original 1943 concrete. This paper will report statistics for maximum crack width for each of the three concrete populations, based on measurements made in 2004 and in 2006, as well as in-situ and laboratory measurements that indicate the 1943 concrete shows contradictory properties, having both high permeability and high electrical resistivity. Also, the 1943 and 1993 concretes were found to have similar chloride profiles and similar chloride concentrations at the reinforcement bars, which, again, is inconsistent with the 1943 elements showing much less reinforcement corrosion than their later replacements. These observations, and some other un-reported cases in the literature, cast doubt on the conventional notion that durable reinforced concrete structures requires reduced concrete permeability, denser concretes or greater cover.]]> Wed 11 Apr 2018 11:47:12 AEST ]]> Development of behaviour models for pitting corrosion of mild steel pipeline welds in marine environment https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:12916 Wed 11 Apr 2018 09:55:36 AEST ]]> Corrosion damage assessment of a reinforced concrete canal structure of power plant after 20 years of exposure in a marine environment: a case study https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:33759 Wed 04 Dec 2019 09:31:04 AEDT ]]> Heterologous expression and biochemical characterisation of cyanotoxin biosynthesis pathways https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:37449 Thu 14 Apr 2022 11:00:25 AEST ]]> Suppression of Wave Disturbances and Tracking Control for Marine Systems https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:44423 Thu 13 Oct 2022 09:44:40 AEDT ]]> Atmospheric and immersion corrosion of steel alloyed with aluminium https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:46042 Thu 10 Nov 2022 14:51:10 AEDT ]]> Reinforcement corrosion in concrete exposed to the North Sea for more than 60 years https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:8070 Sat 24 Mar 2018 08:34:26 AEDT ]]> Bacteriological influence in the development of iron sulphide species in marine immersion environments https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:1783 Sat 24 Mar 2018 08:27:33 AEDT ]]> The effects of corrosion on 45-year-old pre-stressed concrete bridge beams https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:13661 Sat 24 Mar 2018 08:25:18 AEDT ]]> The long-term durability of reinforced concrete structures exposed to aggressive marine environments https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:18859 Sat 24 Mar 2018 08:03:09 AEDT ]]> Long-term corrosion of steels exposed to marine environments https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:5990 Sat 24 Mar 2018 07:49:06 AEDT ]]> Long-term durability of marine reinforced concrete structures https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:38785 Mon 31 Jan 2022 16:13:25 AEDT ]]> Corrosion performance of low alloy steels in sub-Arctic natural seawater https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:35420 Mon 29 Jul 2019 14:08:32 AEST ]]> The Transition from Short- to Long-Term Marine Corrosion of Carbon Steels: 2.
